Course Content:

This training course runs for five days with one day in the classroom and four days in the field visiting and studying drained and un-drained wetlands throughout Eastern Ontario. It will enable you to recognize the characteristics and opportunities for successful marsh and swamp restoration projects. Utilizing a number of case sites across Eastern Ontario, you will be presented with several challenging restoration problems ranging from those at the top of the watershed, down to the “bottom of the drain” (coastal wetlands).

The collaborative nature of the development of the course materials ensures a well balanced approach to the management of wetland restoration within the framework of existing policies and guidelines in practice in the Province of Ontario. Various types of restorations in a range of management situations are examined throughout the course. At each site, and on the road, exercises to challenge participants and encourage a learning atmosphere are undertaken.
